10 gift ideas for a happy handmade holiday

ideas for a happy handmade holiday

Over the years this blog has accumulated a plethora of handmade craft tutorials and show + tells.

With the holidays now very much upon us I thought it would be fun to do a little archive diving and pull up a few favourites to maybe inspire you to create a little handmade something-something this winter festive season.

messy painted trinket box

ONE // Fancy up a small kraft box form with messy, graffiti-style hand-painting, stamping + embellishment to create a one-of-a-kind bedside trinket box for catching loose coins, odd buttons or favourite jewellery.

upcycled denim fibre art wrist cuff

TWO // Upcycle an off-cut of old denim and transform it with machine and hand-stitch into a funky, statement wrist cuff. Great for finding a home for any favourite vintage or handmade buttons, beads or trims.

diy wine glass charms

THREE // Possibly this blog's most popular diy post, these super simple wire and bead charms are just the thing for helping guests identify their beverages. They also make a super fun hostess gift.

handmade leather sunglasses tablet cases

FOUR // This duo of 'never-get-lost' hot pink suedette leather sunglass and tablet cases would make a great gift to keep those favourite tools and accessories safe from misadventure.

repurposed legwarmers

FIVE // These are absolutely my favourite accessory when the cold weather comes around. Rescued from a wash day disaster, these legwarmers are my go-to for keeping my calves and feet cosy indoors and out (and yes, I normally wear socks + slippers besides!).

wee wonderfuls critter

SIX // The perfect cute gift for a family bookworm or favourite local librarian, this Wee Wonderfuls feltie critter was so much fun to make and has been a big hit with its owner and all who spy it peeking out between the books.

handmade zippered pencil pouch

SEVEN // Just the thing for carrying a supply of favourite sketching and doodling tools on hand as my creativity-making places and spaces move with the rhythms of the day, this artist inspired scrappy zippered pouch was a really easy machine make.

sheep sleep eye mask

EIGHT // Sheep dreams with this cute diy felt sleep mask that effectively blocks out unwanted light.

handmade double oven gloves

NINE // Ever since I made these double oven gloves I have been so pleased with the result. They are amazingly well insulated and have even survived an accidental close encounter with the heating element. Definitely come in handy for pulling out hot pans and such, male chef approved!

handmade winter gift wrap

TEN // Whether or not you choose to make or buy your gifts this season, creating your own wrapping is a really fun way to add a personal touch. This quick and simple wrap could be made as needed, so no wastage, and cute hand wound pompoms and sewn tags completed the look.

Dare I say it, but with four weeks to go there is still oodles of time to get crafty and creative for a happy, handmade holiday. What will you make?
